One Equal Music

text: John Donne (1573 – 1631) adapted by Geoffrey Cottrell 2012

Bring us, O Lord God,
at our last awakening,
into the house and gate of heaven.
To enter through that gate,
and dwell in that house,
no cloud, nor sun, no darkness nor dazzling, but one equal light,

no noise, no silence,

but one equal music,
no fears, no hopes, no friends nor foes,

but one equal communion,
no ends, or beginnings,
but one equal eternity,
in the habitations of thy glory, and dominion, world without end,
Amen.
